Check the path status first. The Visitor Experience update of 1 August 2026 says the path from Doolin is open as far as Surfers Path, with no access on to the Visitor Centre. The 6 km section from Liscannor and Hag’s Head is closed for safety. Both walk listings still describe a route from Doolin to the cliffs, so ask the operator which route runs on your date. The Doolin cliff walk page has the section-by-section status.
Doolin is about 15 minutes from the cliffs on bus 350, so the pier and the Visitor Centre sit close together. A cruise takes 45 minutes to an hour, and a cliff-top ticket covers 2 hours. Both guided walks start in Doolin, at 10:00. A night in the village puts you next to the pier and the start of both walks. See where to stay near the cliffs for Doolin, Lahinch and Ennistymon.
The site follows Met Éireann weather warning protocols, so check met.ie before you set off. Month-by-month rain and sunshine figures are on the best time to visit page.
